In honor of Michael Oakley’s remix album release we here at Recall FM wanted to feature him this week. Check out this excellent feature on him via NRW:
after his sister left for work he’d raid her music collection which included depeche mode, tears for fears…
The first track that he wrote was Rabbit in the Headlights. After which he discovered the scene.
…in high school I couldn’t make the music I was listening to because I was 10 years too late. At that time there really wasn’t a sort of retro anything so I discovered that [synthwave] music and decided I was going to write an album…
If you haven’t heard of Michael Oakley, you are missing out on some of the best synthwave around featuring vocals. He’s gotten big, rightly so, he’s a song machine and is always promoting his music. However, without good music that promotion can only go so far.
I have had one on one conversations with him about music, the state of the scene and the future of it. He feels it’s growing every day and it is truly a great avenue for off the main art and music yet still approachable by the every day listener. He’s been a guest on our Recall FM Live Review series and was absolutely a wonder to feature. If anyone is genuinely into the scene it is him.
Back to the good stuff:
His remix album is dropping today featuring some of the best and well known names in synthwave. What does the future hold for this bright star?
